I was most surprised that our beloved low cost carrier Air Asia is no longer the leader in cheap air fares..

Air Asia is almost beaten in its own game by full service airline Malaysia Airlines..

Well, I was booking my flight tickets for my annual leave early next year.. Balik kampung for Chinese New Year.. Since I have two “kampungs” now, I need to fly a fair bit.. So can compare the prices by the airlines..

Winner loser by comparing air fares on the same day excluding other factors like service this and that.. Just purely comparing the air fares..

Perth to Kuala Lumpur
- Winner: Air Asia cheaper by ~ RM 660

Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi
- Winner: Malaysia Airlines (Fireflyz) cheaper by ~ RM200

Langkawi to Kuala Lumpur
- Winner: Air Asia cheaper by ~ RM130

Kuala Lumpur to Kuching
- Winner: Air Asia cheaper by ~ RM220

Miri to Kuala Lumpur
- Winner: Malaysia Airlines cheaper by ~ RM40

Kuala Lumpur to Perth
- Winner: Malaysia Airlines cheaper by ~ a whooping RM1100!!

Result : It’s a tie.. 3 vs 3

Most surprising.. Considering itself as the lowest cost airline of the world, Air Asia is almost put down to shame by Malaysia Airlines..
