The George Town Ball is a major highlight in the month long celebration of the George Town Festival to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of its UNESCO World Heritage Site listing.

Ms Angelina Fernandez, Firefly’s Head of Marketing and Communications added that Patrizio’s music is adult contemporary, pop and oldies, and that his show will entertain and thrill all his local fans.  Firefly’s hosting of Patrizio in conjunction with the George Town Festival will further enhance and promote Malaysia as an entertainment destination.

Firefly now flies 56 flights a week into Penang from Subang; four times a week into Penang from Phuket; once a day from Medan and Banda Aceh respectively. Firefly is also mounting one additional daily flight before and after the Hari Raya holidays for the Subang – Kota Bharu sector.

Patrizio Buanne onboard of Firefly

Patrizio has a passion for languages, and as early as 17 years old, he already spoke fluent Italian, German, English, French, Spanish and Polish.

His career achievement is astonishing. His international debut album entitled, “The Italian”, was completed at the same Abbey Road Studios

Firefly will collaborate with 8TV Quickie to hold a “Slash Look-A-Like” contest .

“This contest will give the winning rock fans a chance to meet the legendary artiste and to watch the concert on 5 August. It is yet another “fun and vibrant” activity organized by Firefly in line with our tag line of “Your Community Airline” said Angelina.

This contest is open to all. The simple criteria for the contestants are as follows: Wear black shirt and pants; Leather jacket/pants; Rock star motives on clothes (e.g. Ed Hardy style); Similar Slash’s sunglasses; Torn jeans/vest/jacket ; Sneakers; Curly hair; Top Hat (points for similar motive on hat); Guitar-additional; Rock star attitude; Air guitar act.

A catwalk on stage is required for the contestants, and this is followed by performing an air guitar act for two minutes with songs from Guns N’ Roses. The top winner will be given a chance to meet their idol – Slash in person, attend his concert, and enjoy Firefly flights and its merchandises.

Firefly in collaboration with Hot FM will hold what might be the most exciting audition in Malaysia! In line with the tagline “Lebih Hangat Daripada Biasa” and “Your Community Airline”, both companies are in search for an amazing Malaysian young band to be one of the opening acts for guitar legend, Slash’s live concert in Kuala Lumpur this coming August. Firefly apologizes to all its passengers for flight delays during the Hari Raya Haji weekend. The delay was caused by ‎​an aircraft being temporary out of service for technical defect which took two days to rectify.

Managing Director and CEO, Eddy Leong clarified that the defect was not major but rectification took longer than expected due to awaiting of specific spare parts from overseas. Added to that its backup aircraft also had a minor defect on Friday but was cleared quickly.

“Unfortunately the out of service aircraft and the short hiccup on the backup aircraft caused a domino effect on all scheduled flights, resulting in multiple delays. We sincerely apologize to all affected passengers and assures all passengers that Firefly practices a very high safety standards failing which an aircraft would not be allowed to be operated.”
