Kuala Lumpur – Monday 15 June 2010 – Firefly, your community airline, today proudly announced the launch of its first-ever concert in Kuala Lumpur, featuring Slash Live in Kuala Lumpur 2010 Concert, which would take place at the Surf Beach, Sunway Lagoon Theme Park on 5 August 2010. Slash is the world renowned former lead guitarist of the Guns N Roses fame.
“It’s a privilege for Firefly to bring in a guitar legend like Slash to Malaysia. Slash transcends the age divide with kids as young as 18 to adults as old as 50 years old. His music is pure rock, going back to the time when music was just with drums, bass and guitar only. No rapping, no keyboards, just the classic rhythm section. I am sure that the performance will thrill all his fans and they can expect the concert to be a rocking good one,” said Ms Angelina Fernandez, Head of Marketing and Communications.
Angelina added that this will be the first of many concerts that Firefly is organizing in and outside of Malaysia as their intention is to position themselves as an airline that brings in fun and joy back into flying. Ultimately, Firefly’s objective in organizing this concert is to bring people together keeping to its tagline of “Your Community Airline”.
Additionally, this is also the best opportunity for those new customers to try out Firefly flights and at the same time being able to enjoy entertainment by the more authentic showcase of music and live performance by internationally known recording artistes.
At this concert, fans will be able to see Slash performing tracks from his debut solo album and other hits from Guns N Roses, such as “Sweet Child Of Mine” and “Paradise City”.
Firefly would also like to thank the following partners into making inroads to the success of organizing their debut concert namely: Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa as the official hotel; TV3 as the official TV station; and Tangeryne Dream hired as the agent. More sponsors are expected to join in the fray by next week.
She added, “It’s been exciting to see Firefly spotlight on one of the most talented rock artists in the world. This concert will give Slash fans not just around the nation but those living in the region, the best opportunity to
see their idolised entertainer performing live and simultaneously enjoy the many wonders of Malaysia.”

Firefly at LCCT soon!

Apparently, our ads caught his attention and of course, many other Malaysians. Let’s see what Raveen has to say about us.

Firefly’s strong and unpredictable message has been published in newspaper and in their website (http://fireflyz.com.my). The message created a buzz among many Malaysians.
Some guessed that Firefly will be operating from LCCT, some guessed that Firefly will be moving to LCCT and some even guessed that Firefly have gone nuts by competing with AirAsia at LCCT.
I thought that their idea was brilliant. They created a buzz among so many people (you can see comments from their Facebook fans-Firefly Airlines), even my friends was talking about it. The ads also stirred people in thinking that they will be operating from LCCT. Many said it was impossible that they want to operate from LCCT, but the point is, they still did thought of that idea. If they (FY) did, Tony will be so mad right? They (Air Asia) didn’t get the rights to fly from Subang Skypark and now they have to share with Firefly?
Initially, I think Firefly just want to stirred people in thinking that. I’m sure they must have gotten a lot of emails and phone calls in pertaining to this advertisement. I’m also pretty sure that’s what they want from the people – ATTENTION!
Yesterday, they revealed the truth- that they are just opening a ticketing counter at LCCT. Thank God! Otherwise, there will be war from AK against FY.
To celebrate their new ticketing counter, Firefly is actually giving out FREE return tickets to the first 10 purchasers of Firefly tickets at LCCT counter. I believe it starts from 15 – 20 October only. Return ticket? That’s generous! Too generous, don’t you think so?
Anyways, I’ve flown with Firefly before. I know it’s a bit smaller than Boeing (being this tall and big, I wonder if I have claustrophobia), but the seats actually have wider space for my leg and it is easier to slide in with the 2 across leather plush seats.
I love it that they serve free light refreshments on board and they let me have 20kg baggage allowance. With that, I have no reason not to shop more right?
I think I’ll probably go get the ticket for my Penang trip with my friends first thing tomorrow morning so *finger-crossed*, I hope we are the first 10 to get there.
